Ospina completes loan move to Napoli
Napoli have finally found a solution to their goalkeeping woes after signing David Ospina on loan from Arsenal. The deal also includes an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
Napoli were left with a major goalkeeping headache after a deal for Guillermo Ochoa fell through at the last minute due to a disagreement in how the deal would be structured.
Ospina had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal following the arrival of Bernd Leno and despite saying that he would stay and fight for his place it seems Ospina was left with no choice but to move on in order to be a key player elsewhere and with Napoli’s other top goalkeeper Alex Meret out injured it seems like Ospina will have the opportunity to stake his claim as Napoli’s first choice.
However, rumours still persist that Napoli are chasing Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to complete their trio of goalkeeping talents and with Alisson’s arrival on Merseyside and Klopp giving his full backing to Loris Karius amid the torrent of abuse he received following the Champions League Final and into pre-season it seems Mignolet will find himself in a similar position to Ospina and will be looking to move on and get some playing time elsewhere.
Napoli kick off their Serie A campaign against Lazio on Saturday, kick off: 19:30 BST.
