AC Milan sign Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan
After weeks of speculation A.C. Milan have announced the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea.
The deal will cost Milan €5m up front and a further €35m if they choose to make the deal permanent next summer, something it seems Chelsea will be hoping happens after it was made clear that Bakayoko played no part in Maurizio Sarri’s plans at Chelsea.
The London-based club paid £40m for the central midfielder just one year ago but after a change in management it was clear Bakayoko would be moved on and with the current exchange rate Chelsea will even make a £5m loss on the Frenchman.
However, Bakayoko seems set on making his stay in Serie A a short one posting on Instagram: “Wishing my Chelsea family the best this season!! #tilwemeetagain”.
Despite a hold up in the transfer over who would pay the players wages it seems the two clubs have reached an agreement with reports suggesting that whilst Chelsea will pay some of the wages the burden will be shared between the two clubs.
Now Bakayoko will have to prove himself in a very strong Milan midfield including Franck Kessie, Riccardo Montolivo and Lucas Biglia to name a few and with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic now linked with the club it could be about to get even more crowded in central midfield.
But, however many games Bakayoko plays what he will benefit from is working under legendary centre mid and current A.C Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso who will hopefully have plenty of lessons for the young player.
Bakayoko will wear the number 14 shirt for Milan who kick off their season against Genoa on Sunday.
