Percassi: “I hope Kessie remains at least until June”
Atalanta president, Antonio Percassi shared his wishes for Franck Kessie‘s future in an interview with L’Eco di Bergamo amongst other topics.
19-year-old Kessie has netted five times this season and has attracted interest from further afield as well as drawing comparisons to compatriot Yaya Toure. Percassi had the following to say on his future,
I do not think that Kessie will leave Bergamo in January, but then who knows what will happen. I hope that he will remain at Atalanta until June.
I believe that this issue should be spoken about in a different way, the important thing is to strengthen the team, not to avoid losing players. We must reinvest to get stronger, as is the example shown by Torino.
Atalanta have struggled this term but Percassi insists he was willing to give Gasperini time when he arrived,
Gasperini needed three months to adjust – as is normal for a Coach arriving at a new team – to experience and interpret his surroundings. Now here we are: the coach has understood and has the team under control.
Kessie hasn’t been the only youngster impressing for Atalanta this term and Percassi took time to comment on 3 goal in 4 game striker Andrea Petagna also,
Petagna is doing unthinkable things, if he keeps his head up, who knows how good he can be. If I had signed Marco Borriello, then when would he have played?
