Ferrero: “Giampaolo has my backing, we’ll have good season”
Sampdoria president and owner Massimo Ferrero has given coach Marco Giampaolo his public backing as La Samp struggle for form.
Speaking to Il Secolo XIX, the 65-year-old had the following to say,
Giampaolo has my total and unconditional faith, I’ve always said he’s the greatest maestro of football, and the maestro must be given time. He’s very linear, but with a few curve balls he could give us some nice surprises, I’ll tell him that.
He then spoke a little on himself adding,
This third year of my Presidency is about reaching maturity, no more experiments.
Sampdoria are currently on a five game winless streak and had they not gotten the 95th minute equaliser against Palermo would’ve been on a five game losing streak too.
I want to win, which is why we’ve reinvested all the money we brought in into a strong team which should win at home to Palermo, not get a last-gasp draw.
Ferrero concluded the interview with the following,
We have many young talented players, and a maestro to Coach them, so I’m convinced we’ll have a good season.
