Gabigol excited about Inter debut
Inter‘s new Brazilian signing Gabigol is “looking forward” to his Serie A debut and says that he will “play any role”
Gabriel Barbosa (nicknamed Gabigol) joined the Nerazzurri last month from Santos and could make his first appearance on Sunday despite only starting training last Saturday.
“I want to contribute and help the team. I’m looking forward to my debut. We’re playing well now and we have to continue this way. I can play in any role, it depends what the Coach [de Boer] wants,” Gabigol said to the assembled media
Gabigol also went on to talk about the other offers he had from different countries. “I had this offer from China, the salary was astronomical, but I’m at a great club. I’ve been impressed by the fans, they’re extraordinary and promise great motivation and commitment. Inter were always my first choice, also thanks to the affection I received on social media. I had offers from Spain, England…”
Barbosa’s main competition for a starting place in the team, Mauro Icardi, has been in fantastic form so far this season but Gabigol doesn’t seem to be fazed by the competition. “Inter don’t only have him, they have so many great strikers. He’s an idol, I’ve always followed him when I’ve had the chance to see matches. He always scores.”
